Russian dressing
Russian dressing, very spicy sauce. It has nothing to do with Russia, but, nevertheless, it is popular in the USA along with the Thousand Islands sauce.
This dressing was invented at the beginning of the 20th century, its creation is attributed to a certain James Colburn. Whether he invented it or not is unknown. The sauce is great for dressing all kinds of sandwiches. Very easy to prepare.
Ingredients
- Mayonnaise (homemade or purchased) – 0,45 lb
- Ketchup – 0,10 lb
- Horseradish (finely grated) – 1-2 tablespoons
- Onion (finely chopped) – 1 tablespoon
- Chili sauce – 1 teaspoon
- Worcestershire sauce – 1 teaspoon
- Ground paprika – 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt – to taste
The onion needs to be crushed or very finely chopped. As well as horseradish (instead of whole roots, you can take a ready-made paste). Mix all ingredients thoroughly. That’s the whole cooking process. But this sauce will reveal your usual sandwiches, burgers in a new way. It even goes well with barbecue.
You can store in the refrigerator up to 5 days.
